Journal of the Iranian Society for Musiclogy
The Journal of the Iranian Society for Musicology is an academic, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing scholarship on the music of Iran and on music in relation to Iranian cultural, historical, and social contexts. The journal publishes research in both Persian and English.
The journal welcomes submissions in the following areas:
- Musical analysis
- Historical musicology
- Music education
- Interdisciplinary studies (e.g., music and politics, gender, environment)
- Popular, traditional, and vernacular music
- Media, Book, and conference review
Selected issues may also include roundtables, interviews, forum essays, and conference presentations. Given the journal’s online format, submissions may incorporate audio files, video materials, or lecture-recital recordings.
Articles are published online on a rolling basis. At the end of each year, all published material is compiled into a single printed volume. Audio- and video-based works remain online, and only their abstracts appear in the print edition.
All submissions undergo editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review.
